Deaf Active - South London

Deaf Active is a sports project aiming to get people fit and interested in sport. The main focus is on the unemployed as we believe participation in sports helps people gain confidence and associated skills for employment.

We have 4 weekly clubs running: Badminton, Football, Netball and Table Tennis.

We have regular taster events (15 times a year) for various sports, to give people the opportunity to find out if there are any sports they like. From this we will set up more regular sessions if there is enough interest.

We also offer to meet clients for a fitness assessment, and we can recommend sports that they could take up. We can also help with finding the best deals on gym membership, or help find local disability schemes, for example, for free swimming.

Finally, we have begun the process of setting up our own gym and this will be available to our clients at no charge.
