Dering is an experienced provider of training and employment opportunities for unemployed deaf, hard of hearing and deaf/blind people.

We enable deaf people to access the support and skills that they need to get back into employment. Our innovation is that we train and equip deaf people to become employment advisors, job coaches and tutors providing a positive role model for other deaf people.

Deaf people do not access mainstream into work programmes or provision because of a lack of communication access. Third party involvement via interpreters lose the vital empathy built up between customers and the advisor. As we are deaf-owned, deaf-run and 86% of our staff are deaf, we have the experience to support deaf people into work.

Our research has shown that regardless of country, the barriers that deaf people face are the same the world over. We believe that in partnership with community based organisations in Ireland we can assist many of Ireland’s unemployed deaf people to access employment opportunities.
